06 Mar The Man Behind the Business: Jeff Amsberry
It started with an idea, as all great things do. The idea to create a video about what Amsberry’s Painting is all about. The motivation stemmed from my desire to show people who had never met Jeff Amsberry just who he is, and what he stands for. My thought process went a bit like this: if someone could only get to know Jeff, they would see what a quality man he is. They would see how honestly he runs Amsberry’s Painting, and they may just want to work with him. I have been working with Jeff for over 3½ years, but have known him for much longer. During that time I have come to know him very well. Let me describe to you the kind of man his is.
Jeff is:

- An excellent teacher
- A developer of people
- Honest & responsible
- A server of our community
Motivated & Dedicated
Jeff first started painting when he was 13 years old living in Edmonds, Washington. Amsberry’s Painting grew into the company it is today out of his motivation, hard work and dedication. Jeff’s drive and dedication enable him to accomplish other massive feats. Feats like participating in the Ironman Triathlon; a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, followed by a full marathon run. He is also the loving husband to an incredible woman named Kristie, and a fantastic father of five children. If that doesn’t scream motivation and dedication, I don’t know what does.
Expert Painter
Through his 40+ years of experience, Jeff has become an expert painter. That only makes sense seeing that at the age of 13 he hired his brother and a friend to help him paint his first house. That house, he told me, did not earn him a profit, but the experience did teach him a lot! Jeff knows the answer to just about any paint or stain related question asked of him. Any question he doesn’t know have an answer for, he can find through his extensive network.
Developer of People
A fun fact about Jeff is that he painted as a way to earn money throughout middle school, high school, and all the way through college. While attending UW, Jeff studied to get his teaching degree and went on to teach Spanish for a number of years. Teaching is intrinsic to Jeff’s existence. Sometimes it looks like instructing and training painters, other times it looks like explaining painting terms to customers. It doesn’t end at instruction though. I have seen, and am a prime example of someone who Jeff saw potential in and then worked with to develop that potential. Jeff helps individuals tap into skills they didn’t know they had and then gives them the push necessary to grow. He combines the challenge with a safe space to both succeed, and a safe place to fail, which allows for talent maturity. It is pretty incredible!
Honest & Responsible
Jeff runs Amsberry’s Painting with complete honesty. He is honest and straightforward with customers, and with his staff. Jeff takes responsibility for the good and the bad that occur in the business.
Server of Others
The painting business keeps Jeff on his toes, but even still, if you take a closer look at Jeff you will find him volunteering and serving others in the little extra time he does have. Jeff loves tennis. He loves tennis SO much that he has full-fledged tennis court in his back yard! Over the years Jeff has trained up many young people in the sport. Jeff also volunteers a lot of time at the church he attends. He might not voluntarily offer this information, but he is serious about giving back.
The Why
Can you see why I would want people to virtually “meet” Jeff through a video? He is remarkable! I am inspired by him, and am pushed to be a better person just by bumping shoulders with him. His approach to running Amsberry’s Painting is based on customer care, excellence, and quality craftsmanship.
That is the “why” that prompted our latest video entitled “Company Approach”. Jeff was my motivation – the man behind the business. That is as much as I can tell you about Jeff Amsberry in writing. I guess to get the full picture of who he is, you’ll just have to meet him.
